I’m Ginny Grupp, AlaskaFit’s owner and program developer. I design personal-training programs for individual clients in which muscle imbalances and postural issues are assessed / addressed. Then we focus on improvement of overall fitness levels with a combination of strength training and cardio exercise.
I develop corporate wellness programs and run Boot Camp classes in Anchorage.
My work is centered in the midtown Anchorage area with individuals and companies that have their own facilities. I love what I do and I’m excited about providing valuable fitness services and products to my clients.

Enjoy variety in your workday. Successful candidates will begin working with clients and/or instructing boot camp classes 2-5 days per week, and up to 4 hours per day.
Gain professional experience in your field. During the initial 90-day trial period, trainers and instructors will log a minimum of 8 hours of training per week, at a rate of $20 per hour. This time will be divided between hands-on client/class work and AlaskaFit policy & procedure training.
Be rewarded for excellent work. We at AlaskaFit believe that excellent work performance should be rewarded. After the 90-day trial period, and pending evaluations of work performance and skill sets, trainers/instructors may be hired as AlaskaFit employees, receive an increase in per-hour rate and be eligible for bonuses and increased client training hours.

Job Posting Summary
Professional fitness and wellness coaching company seeks energetic, enthusiastic individuals who enjoy working with others, have a passion for health and fitness, and desire to make a difference in the lives of others. Help individuals achieve health and fitness goals through customized nutrition and one-on-one fitness programs and boot camp classes. Provide education, motivation, and support. Meet clients individually and implement personal programs based on specific client needs and instruct boot camp classes as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required For This Position
Qualified candidates for this position will possess the following:
- Strong interpersonal and public relations skills

Qualified candidates for this position must also possess demonstrated experience or knowledge in the following areas:
- Development and implementation of comprehensive health & fitness programs for clients
- Ability to conduct initial assessment of client's fitness
- Tracking and assessing client progress
- Ability to instruct and correct proper exercise form and positioning
- A working knowledge of health and fitness education
Education or Training Required for this Position
Personal Trainer Certification from either ACE, NASM or other nationally recognized certifying body, or BA in Exercise Science or related field is required. (There are NO exceptions to this!) A working knowledge of health and fitness education.
Previous experience in coaching clients individually is required. AlaskaFit trainers are responsible for weekly exercise sessions and maintaining detailed weekly progress reports on the clients they are working with. If a client experiences challenges throughout their program, their trainer will coach and motivate them and make appropriate changes to ensure consistent progress.
Special Conditions
AlaskaFit trainers may visit several locations throughout the Anchorage area each day. Therefore, trainers must own, or have the ability to arrange for, personal transportation.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills Or Abilities For this Position
The following are preferred, but not required, to be a successful candidate for this position:
Previous experience in performing fitness evaluations is preferred. Ideal trainers will possess some fitness assessment skills and will be able to test for body composition, bodyweight, girth measurements, and various strength and flexibility tests.
Additional preferred knowledge, skills or abilities:
Previous personal training experience (fitness studio, health club, in-home trainer, etc.)
Basic nutrition knowledge
Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology or equivalent
CPR/AED/First Aid Certification
A Brief List of Duties Our Trainers Will Perform
Implement comprehensive AlaskaFit health and fitness programs for clients. Trainers will receive coaching and training on the AlaskaFit fitness system and programs, and will have flexibility to incorporate their training style and knowledge.
Track client progress. In order to ensure a client's success in our programs, trainers will need to track weekly progress, current successes and challenges, review client nutrition and exercise log worksheets, and more, on a weekly basis. Trainers are expected to hold clients accountable to their health and fitness programs to ensure the best results possible.
Demonstrate proper exercise instruction. Proper coaching, instruction, and motivation are expected at all times during client training sessions. Trainers must have a demonstrated working knowledge of the human body (i.e. muscles, movements, functions, etc.) and be able to provide appropriate exercises for client’s goals.
Provide ongoing health and fitness education. Our clients rely on us to service all of their health and fitness needs. It is the trainer’s job as a fitness coach to provide our clients with health and fitness education on various topics that will empower them to lead healthy lives forever. Trainers will be provided with educational tools and resources, and will be expected to study them and speak about them with clients.
Attend weekly staff and client meetings, and AlaskaFit special client events as needed.
